Progressive’s Home Product Flows
Giving users the power to quote and buy home insurance online
Project Goal
Partnering with home insurance providers QBE and Plymouth Rock, we were tasked with providing users a way to buy home insurance online. QBE had no existing online platform, whereas Plymouth Rock had an existing experience we were asked to redesign to be cohesive with Progressive’s brand standards.
Responsibilities
Lead designer, working with design manager for feedback. Key role included UX/UI design, prototyping, working with copywriter and external stakeholders.
Plymouth Rock Redesign
Designing a cobranded online home insurance buy flow
Key areas of focus
The main goal with redesigning our partner’s online buy flow was to create a more modernized experience that is cohesive with Progressive’s established digital accessibility standards. Additionally, this will give users the power to quote and purchase their policy online without having to call an agent for help.

UX/UI Strategy
Key Areas of Focus
The main goal was to simplify the pages and potentially reduce and redundancies within content. We wanted to create an experience that was concise and more reflective of how we treat online buy flows elsewhere in the property space.

Redesigned Experience
Reducing the number of pages by combining similar content onto less pages.
Applying a modern look and feel with web accessibility and responsiveness top of mind.
Repurposing the persistent blue rail on the right side of the screen to summarize as you go.
Allowing the recommended package to shine, while downplaying others for ease of use. The option to compare remains, but placing it behind a click rather than overwhelming the user with all three at initial load.

QBE Online Buy Design
The main objective was to provide a customer facing online portal for purchasing the Homeowner policy.
After the initial Progressive Online Quote, it will redirect the customer to a new QBE portal to continue with buy process.
The portal will provide Underwriting questions, perform policy validation, final quote and policy issuance.
The Portal should provide 24/7 availability for policy quoting and binding.
Redesigned Experience
Starting from scratch, we based the question set on another basic home flow in production.
From there, QBE determined what they did and didn’t need for their system requirements.
The last step was to create an experience that would fit within Progressive’s ecosystem and adopt our accessible UI kit.
